Standards & Conformance
ShipWink partially conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conforms" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to identify and remediate all gaps on a rolling basis.
- Standard: WCAG 2.1, Level AA (ISO/IEC 40500)
- Section 508: We target compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act for all platform features.
- ADA Title III: ShipWink's web platform is designed to be accessible in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- EN 301 549: European accessibility standard for digital products and services.
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas currently under active remediation:
- Some interactive chart elements (bar charts on the Analytics page) do not yet have full ARIA descriptions — targeted for v2.1
- Third-party carrier tracking iframes may not be fully screen-reader compatible — this depends on carrier vendors
- PDF label downloads have not yet been audited for tagged PDF accessibility
Technical Specifications
ShipWink relies on the following technologies for conformance:
- HTML5 semantic markup
- CSS3 with responsive media queries
- WAI-ARIA 1.1 roles, states, and properties
- JavaScript (progressive enhancement — core functionality works without JS)
Testing Approach
ShipWink is tested using the following tools and methods:
- Manual keyboard-only navigation testing
- Screen reader testing (NVDA, VoiceOver)
- Automated scans via axe DevTools and Lighthouse Accessibility audits
- Color contrast analysis via WebAIM Contrast Checker
- Browser zoom testing at 100%, 150%, and 200%
